If you want to personalize your photo books by adding that special touch that comes from you alone, SmileBooks may be the solution you are in need of. One thing that frustrated us about other photo book services is that they limit your layout and text options, SmileBooks is the complete opposite. With SmileBooks you can place and size your photos and text any way you want. It even allows you to place one photo across two entire pages. While SmileBooks doesn’t allow you to put text down the spine of the book, the interior is completely customizable. We were very impressed with this photo book service and believe that you will be too.

SmileBooks offers two different ways for you to create a photo book – online or through an application that you can download and use without the internet. Both are great options and work flawlessly. You can edit your photos with both once they have been placed in your book; SmileBooks makes it possible for you to reduce red eye, make a color photo black and white or sepia, and crop, zoom and rotate your photos so they appear exactly how you want them. Once your book is complete you will have the ability to share it through email or on Facebook with friends and family. As we stated above, one of our favorite features of SmileBooks is the ability to add text anywhere on any page.

It doesn’t take long to understand the best way to navigate your way around SmileBooks, accessing its tools and features while creating your personalized masterpiece. We were very impressed with the simplicity of the interface as well as with the ease of navigation. We found users who had never before created a photobook through SmileBooks fell in love with the simplicity and the straightforward design. First-time users should probably be aware that the background options available through SmileBooks are limited; to get a trendy or cute background you must download it and upload it to your application or online account. It isn’t hard, but it just takes a little extra time.

SmileBooks uses thicker paper and a sturdier binding than other photo book services, making it a higher-quality and more durable book once all is said and done. We were very impressed with the final product including the page thickness, the print quality of the pictures and text and the sturdy binding. We ordered both a paperback and a hard cover book and we fell in love with both of them. We let countless people look at the books, and while the pages may bend with rough treatment, the binding and the cover held together perfectly.

We were very impressed with the SmileBooks help and support team. On their website they have a tab labeled Help. Through this tab you will find their email, FAQs page blog link and a number for telephone support. You can even friend them or follow them on Facebook and Twitter. While their telephone support is only available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST, they have support representatives addressing inquiries via email seven days a week. SmileBooks promises a 24-hour turnaround and they never failed once at addressing our inquiries during that timeframe. We were impressed not only with the timely turnaround but also with their polite demeanor and helpful responses. They address your issue personally – it’s not an automatically generated response. In addition, they want you to be pleased with your book so they take the time to make sure you understand the features and tools of the application.

Summary:

Overall, we were very pleased with the user-friendly interface, the quick access tools, large feature set, the efficient customer support team and the high-quality finish used to print and bind the pages to create a beautiful photo book. We were disappointed that SmileBooks doesn't allow you to print anything on the spine of your books, but there are enough customizable features to make this one of the best photo book services available.
